GA File RC 2601 — One-hour membrane protection assembly per GA File Nos. FC 5406 / RC 2601 / RC 2602 (FM FC-172) as reproduced by National Gypsum. Wood joists or trusses spaced 24 in. o.c. (framing depth varies by project) carry 1/2 in. plywood sheathing above. The ceiling membrane is two layers of 5/8 in. Type X gypsum board (Fire-Shield Wallboard or Soffit Board): base layer screw-attached 24 in. o.c. and second layer screw-attached 12 in. o.c. The two-layer gypsum ceiling provides one hour of fire resistance protection for the wood framing.
