IBC Table 721.1(3), Item 14-1.1: Plywood stressed skin panels consisting of 5/8"-thick interior C-D (exterior glue) top stressed skin on 2" x 6" nominal (minimum) stringers. Adjacent panel edges joined with 8d common wire nails spaced 6" on center. Stringers spaced 12" maximum on center.. Ceiling: 1/2"-thick wood fiberboard weighing 15 to 18 pounds per cubic foot installed with long dimension parallel to stringers or 3/8" C-D (exterior glue) plywood glued and/or nailed to stringers. Nailing to be with 5d cooler, 12" on center. Second layer of 1/2" Type X gypsum wallboard, 8d cooler, 6" on center at end joints and 8" on center elsewhere. Wallboard joints staggered with respect to fiberboard joints. Minimum ceiling thickness — 1-hr: 1". Prescriptive assembly from the adopted building code — see table footnotes for conditions.
