IBC Table 721.1(2), Item 14-1.6 (l) (Wood studs—interior partition with gypsum wallboard each side): 2" x 3" fire-retardant-treated wood studs spaced 24" on center with one layer of 5/8" Type X gypsum wallboard (e) applied with face paper grain (long dimension) at right angles to studs. Wallboard attached with 6d cement-coated box nails spaced 7" on center. Minimum finished thickness (face-to-face) — 1-hr: 3-5/8 (d)". Prescriptive assembly from the adopted building code — thicknesses are code minimums, see table footnotes for conditions.
