2-Hour Fire Rated Mass Timber —
TESTED (NRC Fire Laboratory, March 2016; documented in the WoodWorks Inventory of Fire Resistance-Tested Mass Timber Assemblies). Loaded floor of 5-ply, 175 mm (6-7/8 in) Nordic E1 CLT with the underside fully exposed (no ceiling protection) and a topping of two staggered layers of 1/2 in cement board; achieved a 2-hour rating with charring of the exposed bottom face providing the fire resistance.
