3-Hour Fire Rated Head-of-Wall Joint — HW-D-0060
UL System HW-D-0060 (category XHBN) — Head-of-wall deflection joint for 1-, 2- or 3-hr gypsum/steel-stud walls (U400/V400/W400 series) built with a Fire Trak Shadowline deflection track under a fluted steel deck with min 2-1/2" concrete (or min 4-1/2" concrete slab / 6" hollow-core precast). Gypsum board stops 1" below the track's bottom flange. Flutes above the wall are packed with 4 pcf mineral wool cut 25% oversize; gypsum board cladding strips cut to the deck contour are screwed to the deflection track, overlapping the wall board 4" and recessed 1/8"-1/2" from the deck. Full-depth firestop sealant (3M FB/FD-150+/CP 25WB+, Hilti FS-ONE MAX, STI SpecSeal ES, Tremco TREMstop Acrylic, RectorSeal Metacaulk, and others) fills the gap between the top of the cladding and the deck on each side. Nominal joint width up to 2"; movement capability 100% compression or extension at 1" installed width; 100% compression at 2" installed width.
