2-Hour Fire Rated Head-of-Wall Joint — HW-D-0606
UL System HW-D-0606 (category XHBN) — Head-of-wall joint for a 1- or 2-hr gypsum/steel-stud wall (U400/V400 series) running parallel to a fluted steel deck with min 2-1/2" concrete topping. 16-gauge steel straps spanning the flute support the ceiling runner; the flute above the wall is filled with friction-fit mineral wool plugs. A 3/4" gap is left above the gypsum board (one layer 5/8" for 1 hr, two layers for 2 hr). Under the deck crest, 4 pcf mineral wool strips compressed 50% pack the gap and are overcoated with min 1/8" wet (1/16" dry) SpecSeal AS200 elastomeric spray lapping 1/2" onto adjacent surfaces; under the valleys, a min 1/2" depth of SpecSeal ES or LC150 sealant is applied flush with the wall face. Nominal joint width up to 3/4"; movement capability 25% compression.
