1-Hour Fire Rated Steel Stud Partition — 1 to 4 hr by layers, 5/8" Type X
UL Design V438 — non-bearing steel stud wall listed for 1, 2, 3 or 4-hour ratings depending on stud depth, gypsum layers and insulation. Canonical 1-hour configuration: 3-5/8" steel studs (min 25 MSG) at 24" o.c. with one layer of 5/8" Type X each side, vertical joints over studs and staggered; cavity insulation optional. 2-hour options include two layers of 5/8" over 2-1/2" studs; higher ratings add layers. Tested acoustic options per National Gypsum: 3-5/8" studs + 3-1/2" glass fiber = STC 45 (NGC-2026027_R1); 6" studs @ 16" o.c. with resilient channels one side + 6" glass fiber = STC 53 (NGC-2013026_R1).
