2-Hour Fire Rated Shaft Wall — I-studs, 1" liner, face layers one side (1–4 hr)
UL Design W419 — non-bearing shaft wall, 1 to 4-hour ratings by system. Nominal 1" x 24" gypsum liner panels inserted vertically into I-shaped steel studs (min 2-1/2" deep, min 25 MSG) at 24" o.c.; face layers of gypsum board are applied to ONE side only. System A (1 hr) = one layer 5/8"; System B (2 hr) = two layers 1/2" or 5/8" (base at 24" o.c. with 1" Type S screws, face at 12" o.c. with 1-5/8" Type S, joints staggered and taped); System D (3 hr) = three layers 5/8"; System E (4 hr) = additional 5/8" layers. Cavity insulation optional. Acoustic options per National Gypsum: 1-hr with SoundBreak XP face layer = STC 44 (NGC-2015035); 2-hr with 5/8" over 5/8" SoundBreak XP + 1-1/2" glass fiber = STC 51 (NGC-2015037).
