§ 238.5 — Definitions

§ 238.5 Definitions. As used in this part— AAR means the Association of American Railroads. APTA means the American Public Transportation Association. Actuator means a self-contained brake system component that generates the force to apply the brake shoe or brake pad to the wheel or disc. An actuator typically consists of a cylinder, piston, and piston rod. Administrator means the Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration or the Administrator's delegate.
