Section 3B.28 Speed Reduction Markings Support: 01 Speed reduction markings (see Figure 3B-25) are transverse markings that are placed on the roadway within a lane (along both edges of the lane) in a pattern of progressively reduced spacing to give drivers the impression that their speed is increasing. 02 Speed reduction markings have been shown to enhance safety around curves and locations with a history of run-off-the-road crashes when applied in combination with horizontal alignment warning signs (see Section 2C.05).
