M-101Aggregate Sampling and Testing

Aggregate sampling follows AASHTO T 2 (field sampling) and AASHTO R 76 (reducing samples). Acceptance tests include: gradation (AASHTO T 27/T 11), specific gravity and absorption (AASHTO T 85 coarse, T 84 fine), LA abrasion (AASHTO T 96), soundness (AASHTO T 104), sand equivalent (AASHTO T 176), flat and elongated particles (ASTM D 4791), and deleterious materials (AASHTO T 112). CDOT aggregate quality requirements per the Qualified Products List.

All work under this section shall comply with CDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
