M-401Steel Testing

Structural steel testing per AASHTO M 270 (structural steel for bridges). Required tests: tensile strength (AASHTO T 244), Charpy V-notch impact (AASHTO T 243) for fracture-critical members, chemical analysis. Reinforcing steel: AASHTO M 31 Grade 60 (minimum yield strength 60 ksi). Prestressing strand: AASHTO M 203 Grade 270 (minimum ultimate strength 270 ksi). Mill certifications required for all steel; MnDOT verification testing on a random sample basis.
