Superelevation design follows AASHTO Method 5 (current MN policy). Distribution tables are provided for maximum superelevation rates of 8% (rural) and 6% (urban/low-speed). Superelevation runoff length is based on design speed and number of lanes rotated. The axis of rotation is typically the centerline for undivided highways and the median edge for divided highways. Superelevation transitions through intersections require special treatment per Chapter 3.
