Bridge construction inspection covers foundations, substructure, superstructure, deck, and railing. Pile driving inspection: dynamic monitoring per AASHTO T-298 on test piles. Bearing capacity verification by pile driving analyzer (PDA) or static load test. Drilled shaft inspection: concrete placement by tremie method below water, cross-hole sonic logging (CSL) testing. Steel erection: bolt torque verification, weld inspection per AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code.
All work under this section shall comply with NJDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
