5-2Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities

Pedestrian and bicycle facility design follows AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities and PROWAG requirements. Sidewalk minimum width: 5 ft (6 ft preferred). Curb ramp design per PROWAG with maximum running slope 8.33% and maximum cross slope 2.0%. Bicycle lane minimum width: 5 ft (7 ft preferred adjacent to on-street parking). Shared-use paths: minimum 10 ft (12 ft preferred) with 2% max cross slope. PennDOT requires ADA compliance on all federally-funded projects.
