Retaining wall construction covers MSE walls, CIP walls, and soldier pile/lagging walls. MSE wall inspection: select backfill gradation, compaction ≥95% T-99, reinforcement length and spacing per design. Wall face alignment tolerance: ±3/4 inch in 10 ft. CIP walls: formwork, reinforcement, concrete placement per structural concrete requirements. Backfill placement in maximum 8-inch lifts with compaction testing.
All work under this section shall comply with PennDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
