Structural concrete inspection includes formwork, reinforcing steel, pre-stress/post-tension, and placement for bridge decks, substructures, and retaining walls. Reinforcement inspection: bar size, spacing, cover depth per design plans. Splice lengths per AASHTO LRFD Section 5. Form tolerance: ±1/4 inch for exposed surfaces. Bridge deck placement: continuous pour preferred; cold joint locations require prior approval. Deck finishing per VA standard specifications.
All work under this section shall comply with VDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
