Structural steel testing per AASHTO M 270 (structural steel for bridges). Required tests: tensile strength (AASHTO T 244), Charpy V-notch impact (AASHTO T 243) for fracture-critical members, chemical analysis. Reinforcing steel: AASHTO M 31 Grade 60 (minimum yield strength 60 ksi). Prestressing strand: AASHTO M 203 Grade 270 (minimum ultimate strength 270 ksi). Mill certifications required for all steel; WSDOT verification testing on a random sample basis.
All work under this section shall comply with WSDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
