CONCRETE STRUCTURES SECTION 610 246 Table 610.3 -5. Corrective Action and Prorated Payment for Concrete Strength Category PSI below Design Strength Corrective Action and Prorated Payment A 0 to 250 PSI below 28 -day Design Strength No repair required, full payment as specified in C 501 to 1 ,000 PSI below 28 -day Design Strength Prorated payment as specified in Section 610.5 plus the application of a protective waterproofing that is approved by the Department’s Materials & Research Section. The clear coating shall only pertain to the pour area that the core represents. D 1,000 PSI or greater below 28 -day Design Strength Strengthen area of low strength concrete as approved by the engineer at no cost to the Department. 610.3.10 Barrier Reflectors.

A.Install barrier reflectors in accordance with Section 723.3.J.

610.3.11 Deck Sealing.

A.Prepare the surface ahead of sealing in accordance with Section 613.3.B.

B.Seal surface exposed concrete barrier with a silane sealer meeting the requirements of Section

1045.3 in accordance with section 613.3.D.

610.4Method of Measurement.

A.The Department will measure work acceptably completed as specified in Section 109.1 and as

follows:

1.The Department will measure concrete using plan dimensions .

2.Concrete quantities will not include deduction of fillets , scorings, chamfers, and pipe openings

less than 24 -inches.

3.The Department will not measure concrete used to fill corrugations in stay -in-place deck

formwork or deflection meeting Section 105.5 . Basis of Payment.

A.The Department will pay for concrete structures at the contract unit price per cubic yard. Price

and p ayment constitute full for:

1.Working drawings;

2.quality control plan;

3.formwork

4.surface preparation ;

5.lighting;

7.providing and placing all materials;

8.barrier reflectors;

9.joints;

10.curing and finishing;

11.surface testing; and

12.disposal of surplus materials.

B.The Department will make no compensation or provide additional contract time for the analyses

or tests used to determine the structural integrity and durability of a mass concrete element.

C.The Department will make no compensation for concrete cores taken to investigate crack depth,

for challenge cores taken to determine concrete strength, or for corrective actions taken to remediate defective work.

D.The Department will make no payments for additional protections to prevent or catch leakage

during deck pours .

E.The Department will pay for sealing in accordance with Section 613.

F.The Department will prorate payment for understrength concrete identified by Section 610.3.9 as

calculated by the following equation: * the quantity the compressive strength results represent.
