Utility coordination follows FHWA regulations (23 CFR 645) and NC utility accommodation policy. Utility relocations required when existing facilities conflict with the project design. NCDOT coordinates with utility owners per the Utility Accommodation Policy manual. Longitudinal utility installations within Interstate ROW require specific approval. Utility adjustment costs may be eligible for federal participation per FHWA policy when on public ROW under prior rights.
