HMA production testing includes gradation (AASHTO T 30), asphalt content (AASHTO T 308 ignition oven), Rice specific gravity (AASHTO T 209), and volumetrics. NYSDOT acceptance on a lot-by-lot basis with statistical pay factors based on percent within limits (PWL). Lot size: 4,000 tons for surface, 5,000 tons for base. Quality control testing by the contractor at minimum 1 per sublot (typically 500-1000 tons). NY verification testing at 10% of QC frequency.
