Earthwork inspection covers clearing/grubbing, excavation, embankment construction, and subgrade preparation. Compaction requirements: 95% standard Proctor density for embankment fill (AASHTO T 99), 100% for subgrade under pavement. Maximum lift thickness: 8 inches loose for standard fill, 6 inches for select material. Moisture content within ±2% of optimum. Nuclear density testing per AASHTO T 310 at frequency of one test per 2,000 square yards per lift.

All work under this section shall comply with UDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
