Traffic control device design follows the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 11th Edition as supplemented by the WA supplement. Sign placement: lateral offset minimum 6 ft from edge of traveled way on rural roads, 2 ft from face of curb on urban roads. Sign height: minimum 5 ft bottom of sign on rural, 7 ft on urban. Retroreflectivity per FHWA minimum levels. Signal design per MUTCD Part 4 with WA state-specific signal timing policies.
All work under this section shall comply with WSDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
