5-2Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities

Pedestrian and bicycle facility design follows AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities and PROWAG requirements. Sidewalk minimum width: 5 ft (6 ft preferred). Curb ramp design per PROWAG with maximum running slope 8.33% and maximum cross slope 2.0%. Bicycle lane minimum width: 5 ft (7 ft preferred adjacent to on-street parking). Shared-use paths: minimum 10 ft (12 ft preferred) with 2% max cross slope. WSDOT requires ADA compliance on all federally-funded projects.

All work under this section shall comply with WSDOT current standards and applicable AASHTO, ASTM, and federal requirements. The Engineer has authority to accept or reject materials and workmanship that do not conform to the specifications.
