Holidays recognized by the State of New Mexico are as follows, unless otherwise provided by the legislature: 1. 1st Day of January (New Year’s Day); 2. 3rd Monday in January (Martin Luther King Jr. Day); Section 101: Abbreviations, Sym bols, Terms, and Definitions Pa ge 12 3. Last Monday in May (Memorial Day); 4. 4th Day of July (Independence Day); 5. 1st Monday in September (Labor Day); 6. 2nd Monday in October (Columbus Day); 7. 11th Day of November (Veterans’ Day); 8. 4th Thursday in November (Thanksgiving Day); 9. 4th Friday in November (In observance of Presidents’ Day Holiday); and 10. 25th Day of December (Christmas Day).
