Response Contract

A contract with a significant amount of work for which the specific work and location is undefined or partially defined at time of letting. Response Contracts include Job Order Contracts, Requirements Contracts, Standby Where and When Contracts, and Statewide Emergency Bridge Contracts as identified in the Contract Proposal. Right of way or R.O.W. A general term denoting land, property or interest therein, usually in a strip, acquired for or devoted to a highway. Roadbed. The graded portions of a highway within top and side slopes, prepared as a foundation for the pavement structure and shoulders. Roadside. A general term including: the area between the outside edge of shoulder and the right of way boundary; the median area between inside shoulders of divided highways; and areas within interchanges. Roadway. The portion of a highway included between the outside edges of the shoulders. Road Section. That portion of a highway included between the top of the slope in cut and the bottom of slope in fill.
