Louisiana · LaDOTD

A pay item designated in the contract that may be performed by subcontract and the cost of such may be deducted from the total contract cost before computing the amount of work required to be performed by the contractor with the contractor's own organization.

Section 101 — General Information, Definitions, and Terms
Tennessee · TDOT

Work items identified in the contract that are not bid but are normally associate d with highway construction and require highly specialized knowledge, abilities, craftsmanship, or equipment not ordinarily available in the type of contracting organizations qualified and expected to bid on the contract in general. These items are to be limited to minor components of the overall contract.
