586.01 Description.
Install utility conduits across the bridge and under the approach roadway to the termination point outside the structure, including threaded inserts cast in the concrete deck , PVC pipe sleeves as required, and utility conduit .
586.02 Materials.
Meet the following requirements:
586.03 Construction Requirements.
Install the threaded inserts and utility conduit as specified, unless otherwise directed. Solvent-weld PVC joints , except expansion couplings. Prove conduits by blowing a pull string from end- to-end of each conduit. Leave the pull strings in place unless otherwise directed. Verify the lo cation of existing utilities and structures before starting construction and immediately notify the Engineer of discrepancies found. Install the deck inserts for the utility conduits at the spacing specified.
586.04 Method of Measurement.
The Engineer will measure acceptably completed work by the lump sum.
586.05 Basis of Payment .

587.01 Description.
Prepare and paint the structural steel within the limits as specified. This work will consist of surface preparation by solvent cleaning, power washing, blasting, testing of blast surface for salts, full containment, proper disposing of debris, furnishing and applying paint, shielding adjacent areas from unwanted paint, and cleaning up after painting is complete. The Contractor or its subcontractor(s) will furnish labor, materials, equipment, services, and incidentals necessary to prepare and paint the steel. The work includes full removal of paint and rust from the steel, construction of any required containment facilities, debris collec tion, site storage , disposal, cleaning of the steel by water jetting, and painting of the steel structure. This work will be done in accordance with this specification and as directed. The existing paint may contain lead- base d paint. The Contractor is required to conduct their own monitoring at the beginning of the work, in accordance with federal regulations, and adjust worker protection and work practices according to the monitoring results. The Contractor must have current certification in accordance with SSPC Qualification Procedure No. 1 (QP
587.02 Materials.
The coating system must incorporate single- component, moisture- cured polyurethanes for all priming and intermediate operations. Single- component, moisture- cured aliphatic polyurethane or polyester modified, aliphatic, acrylic polyurethane will be used for all top- coating operations. All coating products furnished must be manufactured by the same manufacturer and be compatible with one another. All coatings will be free of lead or chromates.
