SECTION 623 MAILBOXES 623.01 DESCRIPTION This work is the removal, temporary reset, and maintenance, and furnishing and installation of new mailboxes and crash-worthy supports at the specified locations or as directed. 623.02 MATERIALS Use metal mailboxes listed on the QPL for Mailbox, Mailbox – Large, and Mailbox-Extra Large. The mailbox carrier service door must be embossed with the following two statements: “U.S. MAIL” in a minimum of ½-inch (13 mm) high letters and “Approved By The Postmaster General” in a minimum of 3⁄16-inch (4.8 mm) high letters.
