Immediately replace and dispose of any drum, ballast or reflective sheeting that are torn, crushed, discolored or otherwise damaged. 1130 -4 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT Drums will be measured and paid as the maximum number of drums acceptably placed and in use at any one time during the life of the project. Relocation, r eplacement , repair or disposal of drums, ballasts or reflective sheeting will be incidental to the wor k of this section. Payment will be made under: Pay Item Pay Unit Drums Each

CONES -1 DESCRIPTION Furnish, install, relocate, maintain and remove cones and reflective cone collars. -2 MATERIALS Refer to Division 10. Item Section Cones 1089 -5 Provide cones listed on the NCDOT APL . -3 CONSTRUCTION METHODS Use retro reflective adhesive sheeting on all cones used between dusk and dawn. Use the same type of retro reflective sheeting on all cone collars installed at any one time during the life of the project. Do not use cones in the upstream taper of lane or shoulder closures for multi- lane roadw ays. Do not use cones for longer than 3 consecutive days. Use ballasting methods in accordance with manufacturer’s specification. Cones may be used on all facilities using the following requirements:

(A)For facilities with speed limits below 45 mph cones shall be spaced at 20 feet in the

taper and 40 feet in tangent sections.

(B)For facilities with speed limits of 45 mph or higher, drums shall be used in the taper

spaced in accordance with Article 1130 -3 and cones shall be spaced at 80 feet in the tange nt sections. Do not intermix with drums or skinny drums in either the taper or the tangent sections . Immediately replace and dispose of any cone that is torn, crushed, discolored or otherwise damaged. -4 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT Cones will be measured and paid as the maximum number of cones acceptably placed and in use at any one time during the life of the project.
