Construct Portland cement concrete curb, concrete curb and gutter, concrete gutter, shoulder 7 berm gutter, concrete expressway gutter and 4 inch concrete valley gutter as shown in the 8 contract. 9

846-3 Construction Methods 12

A.General 13 Construct concrete in accordance with Section 825, except as provided herein. 14 Give surface a light broom finish with brush marks parallel to the curb line or gutter line. 15 Prepare foundation and compact base or subgrade to the degree required by the applicable 16 section of the Standard Specifications before placing fo rms. 17
B.Forms 18 Use for ms that have no more than 1/8 inch in 10 f eet deflection from true line horizontally 19 and vertically to adequately support the concr ete and construction equipment. 20 Obtain ap proval before placing concrete. 21
C.Joints 22 Locate joints as shown in the plan s except as provided herein. 23 Space joints no closer than 5 feet. 24 Locate joints to line up with the joints in concrete pavement when placed adjacent to 25 concrete pavement. 26 Form grooved contraction joints as required by Subarticle 825- 10(B). 27

Form butt joints as required by 2 Subarticle 825 -10(B) for groov ed contraction joints and seal. 3 Seal all joints except for joints in curb sections not having an integral gutter. 4 Fill joints in gutter with joint sealer to the top surface of the gutter. 5 Seal joints before backfilling or performing adjacent operations. 6

D.Surface Tolerances 7 Finish surface within 1/4 inch when checked longitudinal ly with a 10 f oot straightedge. 8
E.Backfilling 9 Do not place backfill or pavement adjacent to the curb, curb and gutter, gutter, shoulder 10 berm gutter, expressway gutter or concrete valley gutter until at least 3 curing days, as 11 defined in A rticle 825 -9, have elapsed. 12 Complete backfill within 4 calendar days after the completion of the 3 day curing period 13 unless otherwise approved. 14 Compact b ackfill to an approved density. 15
F.Opening to Traffic 16 Vehicles may be permitted on the completed work after the following curing days, as 17 defined i n Article 825 -9, have elapsed . For r egular stren gth concrete, cure for at least 18 7 curing days . For h igh early strength concrete, cure for at least 3 curing days. 19
