209.04 Machine Grading

208.06 Basis of Payment

The Department will pay for each pay item at the contract unit price per the specified pay unit as follows: Pay Item: Pay Unit: CLAY PLATING Cubic Yard [Cubic Meter] Include the cost of water used in the plating process in the contract unit price for Clay Plating .

209.01 Description

This work consists of grading, using heavy machine blading and some drifting and hauling, to move earthwork material between balanced cuts and fills. For those one -mile sections indicated where excavation does not exceed 5,000 yd³ [3,820 m³] and approximately balances with embankments, the Engineer will allow the use of ma chine grading.

209.04 Construction Methods

Bring the roadbed to a uniform grade with elevations and typical cross -section as indicated, using the following methods:  Drifting or hauling excavated material,  Plowing,  Scarifying,  Blading,  Removing stone and boulders from the roadway,  Compacting, and  Shaping. Grade and shape side slopes and ditches in accordance with the typical cross -section. Excavate rock, hard sandstone, shale, or other solid and unyielding material in the roadbed, and backfill with specified material in accordance with Subsection 202.04.A, "Excavation and Borrow." Construct excavations and embankments in accordance with Subsection 202.04.A, "Excavation and Borrow," and Subsection 202.04.B, "Embankments." Repair damage to adjacent structures resulting from construction operations as directed by the Resident Engineer, at no a dditional cost to the Department. OBLITERATING ABANDONED ROAD 210.04 Blade and shape completed portions of graded work to ensure a smooth surface of uniform cross - section with lines and grades in accordance with the Plans. Maintain the roadway until final acceptance.

209.05 Method of Measu Rement

The Resident Engineer will measure Machine Grading along the centerline to the nearest foot [meter].

209.06 Basis of Payment

The Department will pay for each pay item at the contract unit price per the specified pay unit as follows: Pay Item: Pay Unit: MACHINE GRADING Linear Foot [Meter] Include the cost of water used to achieve the required moisture content in the contract unit price for Machine Grading. SECTION 210 OBLITERATING ABANDONED ROAD

210.01 Description

This work consists of obliterating specified sections of abandoned road by removing and disposing of pavement surfaces, non -native base materials, structures, and other items.

210.02 Material — Vacant

210.04 Construction Methods

Break and remove pavement surfaces and base courses of abandoned road no longer needed for traffic in accordance with Section 619, "Removal of Buildings, Structures and Obstructions." Remove, without damaging, items with salvage value and store the items indicated. Items not indicated for salvage or use in the work shall become the property of the Contractor. Remove concrete structures to at least 1 ft [0.3 m] below the ground level and cover with earth. Distr ibute the removed portions of broken concrete to locations directed by the Resident Engineer and cover with at least 1 ft [0.3 m] of material approved by the Resident Engineer, or remove from the project. Scarify or plow the abandoned subgrade material aft er removing the pavement surfaces, structures, and other items, and round and smooth by blading. Grade, slope, and transition the toes of fills and the tops of cuts of the abandoned subgrade, except in rock. Fill ditches and grade the abandoned subgrade to drain.
