600-247Section 658 — Roadway Lighting

658.1Description

658.1.1 Scope of Work 1 Design, furnish, and install roadway lighting systems according to all national and state codes and standards to include: •Complete plans, design basis documentation, and cut sheets for allaspects of the lighting system including photometric study, electrical schematics, foundations, poles, system controllers, controller cabinets,and luminaries. •Electrical services, complete to the point of connection with the utilitycompany’s facilities. •Service entrance equipment, including system luminaire control panels. •Complete grounding system for lighting and equipment sufficient forlightning protection, including grounding conductors, ground rods, and grounding connections. •Complete branch circuit wiring system for lighting and equipment,including conduit, trenching and backfill, jacking and boring, concret e enc asement, pull boxes, and wiring. •Luminaries, poles, and foundations for roadway lighting. 658.1.2 Definitions 658.1.2.1 Partial Interchange Lighting 1 Lighting of the exit ramps, beginning at the start of the deceleration lane along a freeway or interstate and extending to the ramp terminal at the crossroad; and the entrance ramps, beginning at the ramp terminals of the crossroad and extending to the end of the acceleration lane along the freeway or interstate. 658.1.2.2 Complete Interchange Lighting 1 Places lights on entrance and exit ramps in the same locations as partial interchange lighting. In addition, lighting is placed along the mainline between the entrance and exit ramps and on the crossroad between the ramp terminals. Additional lighting is placed on the crossroad a minimum of 750 ft measured from the ramp terminal or a minimum of 1000 ft measured from the centerline of the Intestate or freeway, whichever is greater.
