1.4 Definitions

A.Rolled Erosion Control Products ( RECP ) – Degradable or non- degradable prefabricated blankets formed with natural or synthetic materials installed to reduce soil erosion and aid in vegetative establishment .
1.Temporary RECP are composed of degradable natural fibers bound between two degradable natural or synthetic fiber netting to form a continuous matrix designed to provide erosion control protection up to 36 months . Rolled Erosion Control Products
2.Permanent RECP are manufactured with non-degradable synthetic fibers, filaments, nets, wire mesh or other elements into a permanent, three- dimensional matrix, and installed where established vegetation may be insufficient to protect against erosion within high flow channels, ditches or along very steep slopes.

1.5 Submittals

A.Authorized Products List ( APL) Compliance Form for information.

1.6 Delivery, Storage, and Handling

A.Deliver products in original ultra violet (UV) weather -resistant factory labeled packages showing the name of the manufacturer and product description.
1.Protect from damage due to climatic conditions or construction operations.

Part 3 — Execution

3.1 Preparation

A.Complete all required grading, topsoil placement, and seeding in designated areas before installing RECP .
B.Make soil surface stable, firm, free of rocks, roots and other obstructions.
C.Install RECP within 24 hours after seeding.

3.2 Installation

A.Minimize disturbance of the prepared seedbed when installing RECP.
B.Install RECP according to manufacturer ’s recommendations including any requirements to anchor RECP into the soil .
C.Unroll RECP parallel to the primary direction of flow and place it in direct contact with the soil.
1.Do not stretch the product or allow it to “tent” or bridge over surface inconsistencies during installation.
D.Within a channel, ditch or swale, install RECP to allow runoff to flow directly to the centerline of ditch, not undermining or bypassing the RECP. Rolled Erosion Control Products
E.Place additional staples in areas such as swales, base of humps, against rock outcrops and as required achieving maximum contact between RECP and the soil.
