1.Experience of the engineer in charge of dynamic pile monitoring, testing, and analysis , including:
a.Years of experience.
b.Nature of experience
c.List of projects successfully completed during the required years of experience. Provide at least the following for each project: 1) Project name, bridge locations (state, routes, and bridge identifiers), owner, scope of work, and date completed 2) Number and type of dynamic pile tests and number of signal matching analyses a) Dynamic pile test types are initial driving and restrike driving 3) One owner or agent reference with contact information (phone and email) a) Satisfactory references are those responsible for oversight or inspection of the project.
2.Required certification, if applicable.
B.Signal Matching Analysis Report for information. Include at least the following:
1.Pile driving resistance determined by the signal matching analysis , including :
a.Total driving resistance
b.Driving resistance attributed to end bearing
c.Driving resistance attributed to skin friction
2.Information on test pile, driving conditions, pile driving hammer, dynamic test results, and comments on the results
3.Dynamic test results (output file)
4.Signal matching analysis results (output file)
5.Date and the Dynamic Testing Consultant’s Utah Professional Engineer seal

1.6 Dynamic Testing Consultant

A.Retain the services of a Dynamic Testing Consultant to perform dynamic pile testing and signal matching analysis on test piles.
1.Dynamic pile testing includes dynamic pile monitoring during the initial driving of test piles.
B.The Dynamic Testing Consultant is responsible for the following:
1.Instrumentation setup
2.Dynamic pile testing
3.Data quality and reliability assessment
4.Signal matching analysis
5.Signal Matching Analysis Report
C.Qualifications for the Dynamic Testing Consultant who is in charge of dynamic pile testing and signal matching analysis are as follows:
1.Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Utah
2.One of the following:
a.Master Level or better on the Pile Driving Contractors Association (PDCA) –endorsed Dynamic Measurement and Analysis Proficiency Test, and at least 3 years of experience in dynamic pile testing and analysis that includes the successful completion of at least 8 projects in similar geotechnical conditions.
b.At least 5 years of experience in dynamic pile testing and analysis that includes the successful completion of at least 12 projects in similar geotechnical conditions.

Part 2 — Products

2.1 Dynamic Pile Testing Equipment

A.Refer to ASTM D 4945.
B.Use equipment that has been calibrated to the standards of the manufacturer within the previous two years .

Part 3 — Execution

3.1 Dynamic Pile Testing

A.The Dynamic Testing Consultant prepares test piles for testing.
1.Prepare the test pile for instrument attachment.
2.Attach the required instrumentation to the pile after the pile is placed in the leads. Refer to ASTM D 4945.
3.The Contractor may assist the Dynamic Testing Consultant with pile preparation and instrument attachment at the Contractor’s option if this work is completed under the direct supervision of the Dynamic Testing Consultant.
B.The Dynamic Testing Consultant performs dynamic pile testing on production piles designated as test piles and provides data used to establish the pile driving criteria for production piles .
1.Perform dynamic pile testing according to ASTM D 4945.
a.Supply dynamic pile testing equipment.
2.Perform dynamic pile testing on the following piles:
a.The first pile driven for each construction phase at each abutment and bent.
b.One additional pile at or near the opposite end of the abutment and bent from where the first test pile was driven if the abutment or bent foundation length is greater than 100 ft.
c.Additional test piles as required by t he Engineer.
3.Provide dynamic pile testing during the driving of test piles.
a.Continuously monitor pile driving stresses and integrity, monitor hammer and drive system performance (including the occurrence of bending), and evaluate driving resistance. 1) Notify the Contractor immediately if the dynamic testing indicates the hammer and drive system is not performing properly, if there is indication that bending is occurring, or if driving stresses exceed 90 percent of the yield stress of the pile material (0.9Fy). 2) Notify the Engineer and the Contractor immediately if the dynamic testing indicat es that pile damage may have occurred during driving.
b.A restrike dynamic test may be required if setup is required to achieve the minimum driving resistance or if pile relaxation is a concern . 1) Wait to perform the restrike dynamic testing for at least the waiting period shown or as directed by the Engineer.
c.Be in direct communication with the geotechnical engineer of record during dynamic pile testing.
d.Dynamic testing during driving and during restrike driving are considered to be separate tests.

3.2 Dynamic Pile Analysis

A.Perform signal matching analysis on representative data collected at the end of initial driving and at each restrike event , or as directed by the Engineer .
