Part 3 — Execution
3.1 Preparation
A.Contact the Engineer at least 30 calendar days before State furnished solar traffic count station items are needed to schedule pick up of the items .
B.Clear luminaire pole exterior of all loose rust and mill scale, dirt, oil, grease, and other foreign substances.
3.2 Luminaire Pole and Foundation
A.Construct highway luminaire ground mounted pole and foundation according to Section 16525 and the SL Series Standard Drawings.
B.Verify that the location s of the pole, junction boxes, and foundation marked in the field have no conflict s with existing underground and overhead utilities.
C.Install pole with the hand hole facing away from traffic.
D.Plumb poles to vertical with NID equipment installed.
E.Place non- shrink grout between base plate and foundation surface.
F.Install ground lug and connect ground conductor from lug to ground rod in the junction box according to AT Series Standard Drawings.
G.Bond pole and grounding conductor to concrete encased grounding electrode. Refer to Section 16530.
3.3 Concrete Service Pad
A.Install as shown in the AT Series Standard Drawings. Refer to 02776.
1.Use class B concrete.
3.4 Pole -Mounted Cabinet and Flexible Conduit
A.Install pole -mounted cabinet centered 60 inches above grade at base of pole.
1.Use stainless steel banding and r efer to AT Series Drawings for mounting brackets. Refer to Section 02892.
B.Install flexible liquid -tight conduit between cabinet and pole.
1.Provide workable space between conduits on pole. Refer to Section 16530.
3.5 Underground Junction Box
A.Install junction box near pole as shown in AT Series Standard Drawings . Refer to Section 13554.
3.6 Ground Rod
A.Refer to Section 16530.
3.7 Solar Panel and Mounting Bracket
A.Install State furnished solar panel and mounting bracket.
1.Provide additional hardware as needed to complete the installation.
B.Install solar panel cable using cord connector to protect the cable entrance into the luminaire pole.
3.8 Non- Intrusive Detector (Nid)
A.Install items necessary to make the NID system complete and operational. Refer to Section 13559.
B.Install NID to ensur e clear line of sight detection and that it does not conflict with the solar panel.
C.Mount and connect the NID at the height and orientation specified. Refer to the following for installation:

1.Install NID surge protector in the pole -mounted cabinet with the 24 VDC power supply.
3.9 Cables and Conductors
A.Do not exceed the minimum bending radius or the maximum pulling tension recommended by the manufacturer’s specifications at any time.
B.Keep cable ends sealed at all times during installation .
1.Do not use tape.
C.Provide 6 ft of neatly coiled and bundled fiber drop cable in junction box adjacent to the pole base.
D.Make all NID cable connections between the NID and pole- mounted cabinet.
E.Arrange wiring neatly at cabinet, junction boxes, and fixtures.
3.10 Its Integration, Inspection, Testing, and Acceptance
A.Follow the integration, inspection, testing, and acceptance process according to Section 13595.
