MUTCD D11-1: Bike Route Guide Signs
The D11-1 sign is covered in Section 9D.02 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)Bike Route Guide signs may be provided along designated unnumbered, unnamed bicycle routes to inform bicyclists of bicycle route direction changes and to confirm route direction and destination.
- Option · Permitted (may)If used, Bike Route Guide signs may be repeated at regular intervals so that bicycles entering from side streets will have an opportunity to know that they are on a bicycle route. Similar guide signing may be used for shared roadways with intermediate signs placed for bicycle guidance.
