MUTCD D13-3a: Freeway Entrance Signs
The D13-3a sign is covered in Section 2D.50 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)FREEWAY ENTRANCE (D13-3) signs or FREEWAY ENTRANCE with diagonal downward-pointing arrow (D13-3a) signs (see Figure 2D-18 ) may be used on entrance ramps near the crossroad to inform road users of the freeway or expressway entrance, as appropriate.
- Option · Permitted (may)The D13-3 and D13-3a signs may display an alternate legend in place of FREEWAY, such as EXPRESSWAY or PARKWAY, as appropriate, or may display the name of an unnumbered highway.
