MUTCD D4-2: PARK - RIDE Sign
The D4-2 sign is covered in Section 2D.48 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)A PARK - RIDE (D4-2) sign (see Figure 2D-14 ) may be used to direct road users to park-and-ride facilities.
- Standard · Required (shall)The signs shall display the word message PARK - RIDE and direction information (arrow or word message).
Placement and mounting
- Standard · Required (shall)If used, the local transit pictograph and/or carpool symbol shall be located in the top part of the sign above the message PARK - RIDE. In no case shall the vertical dimension of the local transit pictograph and/or carpool symbol exceed 18 inches.
- Option · Permitted (may)To increase the target value and contrast of the local transit pictograph, and to allow the local transit pictograph to retain its distinctive color and shape, the pictograph may be included within a white border or placed on a white background.
