MUTCD D5-12: Interstate Oasis Signing
The D5-12 sign is covered in Section 2I.04 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.

- Guidance · Recommended (should)If a State elects to provide or allow Interstate Oasis signing ( see Figure 2I-4 ), there should be a statewide policy, program, procedures, and criteria for the designation and signing of a facility as an Interstate Oasis that complies with the FHWA’s policy and with the provisions of this Section.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)States electing to provide or allow Interstate Oasis signing should use the following signing practices on the freeway for any given exit to identify the availability of a designated Interstate Oasis: A.
