MUTCD E9-5: Community Interchanges Identification Signs
The E9-5 sign is covered in Section 2E.52 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Guidance · Recommended (should)In these cases, the name of the community followed by the word Exits should be displayed on the top line; the lines below should display the destination, road name or route number, and the corresponding distances to the nearest ¼ mile.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The sign should be located in advance of the first Interchange Advance guide sign for the first interchange within the community (see Figu re 2E-56 ).
