MUTCD EM2-2: TRAFFIC CONTROL POINT Sign
The EM2-2 sign is covered in Section 2N.05 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The TRAFFIC CONTROL POINT (EM2-2) sign (see Figure 2N-1 ) should be used to designate a location where an official traffic control point has been set up to impose such controls as are necessary to limit congestion, expedite emergency traffic, exclude unauthorized vehicles, or protect the public.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The sign should be installed in the same manner as the AREA CLOSED sign (see Section 2N.04), and at the point where traffic must stop to be checked.
Placement and mounting
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The TRAFFIC CONTROL POINT sign should be mounted directly below the STOP sign.
