MUTCD M4-7P: TEMPORARY Auxiliary Plaques
The M4-7P sign is covered in Section 2D.24 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)The TEMPORARY (M4-7P) or the TEMP (M4-7aP) auxiliary plaque (see Figure 2D-5 ) may be used for an interim period to designate a section of highway that is not planned as a permanent part of a numbered route, but that connects completed portions of that route.
- Standard · Required (shall)If used, the TEMPORARY or TEMP auxiliary plaque shall be mounted directly above the route sign, above a Cardinal Direction auxiliary plaque, or above an auxiliary plaque for an alternate route that is a part of the route designation.
