MUTCD R10-6: STOP HERE ON RED Signs
The R10-6 sign is covered in Section 8B.10 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)STOP HERE ON RED signs may be used at locations where motor vehicles frequently violate the stop line or where it is not obvious to road users where to stop.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)If possible, stop lines should be placed at a point where the motor vehicle driver has adequate sight distance along the track.
