MUTCD R11-1: KEEP OFF MEDIAN Sign
The R11-1 sign is covered in Section 2B.62 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)The KEEP OFF MEDIAN (R11-1) sign (see Figure 2B-30) may be used to prohibit driving into or parking on the median.
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The KEEP OFF MEDIAN sign should be installed on the left-hand side of the roadway within the median at random intervals as needed wherever there is a tendency for encroachment.
