MUTCD R14-5: National Network Signs
The R14-5 sign is covered in Section 2B.68 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Standard · Required (shall)When a National Network route is signed, the National Network (R14-4) sign (see Figure 2B-31 ) shall be used.
- Option · Permitted (may)The National Network Prohibition (R14-5) sign (see Figure 2B-31) may be used to identify routes, portions of routes, and ramps where trucks are prohibited. The R14-5 sign may also be used to mark the ends of designated routes. OTHER REGULATORY SIGNS AND PLAQUES
