MUTCD R15-5a: Do Not Pass Light Rail Transit Signs
The R15-5a sign is covered in Section 8B.13 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)The R15-5 sign may be used in mixed-use alignments and may be mounted overhead where there are multiple lanes.
- Option · Permitted (may)Instead of the R15-5 symbol sign, a regulatory sign with the word message DO NOT PASS STOPPED TRAIN (R15-5a) may be used (see Fig ure 8B-1 ).
Placement and mounting
- Guidance · Recommended (should)If used, the R15-5 or R15-5a sign should be located immediately before the LRT boarding area.
