MUTCD R8-10: STOP HERE WHEN FLASHING Signs

The R8-10 sign is covered in Section 8B.09 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.

What it means and when it is used

  • Option · Permitted (may)
    The STOP HERE WHEN FLASHING (R8-10 and R8-10a) signs (see Figure 8B-1) may be used at a grade crossing to inform drivers of the location of the stop line or the point at which to stop when the flashing-light signals (see Section 8D.02) are activated.
