MUTCD R9-3cP: Bicycle Wrong Way Sign and RIDE WITH TRAFFIC Plaque
The R9-3cP sign is covered in Section 9B.06 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)The Bicycle WRONG WAY (R5-1b) sign and RIDE WITH TRAFFIC (R9-3cP) plaque (see Figure 9B-1) may be placed facing wrong-way bicyclists, such as on the left-hand side of a roadway.
- Option · Permitted (may)This sign and plaque may be mounted back-to-back with other signs to minimize visibility to other traffic.
Placement and mounting
- Guidance · Recommended (should)The RIDE WITH TRAFFIC plaque should be used only in conjunction with the Bicycle WRONG WAY sign, and should be mounted directly below the Bicycle WRONG WAY sign.
