MUTCD W10-16: Another Train Coming Sign
The W10-16 sign is covered in Section 8B.18 of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, 11th Edition. Below are the provisions from that section that describe when the sign is used and how it is placed.
What it means and when it is used
- Option · Permitted (may)An ANOTHER TRAIN COMING (W10-16) train-activated blank-out sign (see Figure 8B-4) may be used to provide notification of another train coming. For added sign conspicuity, a Warning Beacon may be used in accordance with the requirements of Section 4S.03.
- Support · InformationConflicts between vehicles or vulnerable road users and multiple trains can occur at multi-track crossings on sidewalks, pathways, and at crossings in station areas where grade crossing users might not consider the arrival of another train on a different track.MUTCD 11th Edition Page 1005
